On Monday, President Trump and Congressional leaders finalized a budget deal to increase spending by $323 billion. The deal will lift the budget caps and raise the debt ceiling until July 2021, avoiding the risk of a federal default on payments.
The budget will increase mandatory funding to support USDA programs for egg producers. Increased funding in the agreement will support USDA and FDA inspectors’ efforts to fight low-path avian influenza.
The House Rules Committee will be meeting on Wednesday to set the terms for floor debate. House leaders plan to pass the deal before they leave for August recess, and the Senate will have the opportunity to vote on the bill as late as next week. President Trump’s signature on the final agreement will begin the Senate’s delayed appropriations process.
