August 15, 2019

The U.S. Roundtable for Sustainable Poultry & Eggs (US-RSPE) was established in 2017 to advance, support and communicate continuous improvement in sustainability and animal welfare in the poultry and egg industry.

UEP is proud to be a founding member along with 33 other organizations.   US-RSPE has established three focal points to define its goals and scope:

Environmental - Air quality, by-products, energy use, GHG emissions, land use, nutrient management, solid waste, water quality and water use.

Social - Community relations, employee relations, employee retention, employee safety, food security, grower relations, agriculture technologies (antibiotics, GMO), animal welfare, food safety, product quality and production efficiency.

Economic - Legal compliance, profitability, consumer confidence and industry structure.

Further demonstrating UEP’s leadership role, Chad Gregory, UEP’s President and CEO, serves on the US-RSPE board.  Dr. Larry Sadler, UEP’s Vice-President of Animal Welfare, serves on the International Poultry Welfare Alliance’s Poultry Health and Welfare Committee.

US-RSPE’s annual meeting will take place in Atlanta on October 9 where Gregory will represent the egg industry as an invited speaker. UEP encourages all members to join this important and influential group and attend the annual meeting.
