Agriculture Appropriations Bill Markup this Week

May 10, 2018

The House Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture marked up the Fiscal Year 2019 Agriculture Appropriations Bill on Wednesday, May 9. The Agriculture Appropriations Bill funds important agricultural and food programs and services to support animal and plant health programs, agricultural trade, rural development, and nutrition programs. Legislation provides funding for the Animal Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) to support programs that help eradicate plant and animal diseases and the Agricultural Research Service (ARS) to support research programs to mitigate devastating diseases and increase farm production.

UEP’s D.C. team has expressed strong support to Chairman Aderholt for the funding placed in last year’s bill for LPAI.  The request is for the same amount, $7.5 million, or more in preparation for any outbreaks in 2019.
