Egg Farmer-Chefs Share Omelet Skills on Capitol Hill

May 24, 2018

Congressmen and staffers received hands-on chef training at the traditional omelet lunch on May 17.  UEP farmer-members, staff and allied industry representatives coached the attendees on the art of cooking the eggs, filling, and successfully folding and flipping their omelets.

Representative Mike Conaway (Texas), chairman of the House Agriculture Committee, stopped by to thank UEP members for hosting the lunch.  Representative Roger Marshal (Kansas), donned a signature UEP 50th Anniversary apron and received the expert advice of UEP member Cal Jackson while making his omelet.

During the two-hour event, members promoted eggs and shared the issues affecting egg production with representatives and Congressional staff.  Thank you to all the farmer-chefs who helped attendees cook over 350 omelets.
