The Egg Industry Center announced three grants totaling $213,000, bringing the total funding for egg research to $1 million since 2013.  Read about the latest grant recipients at “Egg Industry Center awards $1M in funding,” from Poultry World.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) released a video from an egg farm in British Columbia, alleging neglect and abuse.  “PETA Video Shows Hens At B.C. Farm Stuck In Feces, Packed With Dead Birds,” was published in the Huffington Post.

F.D.A. gives guidance on preventing food supply attacks,” provides details on FDA’s first draft guidance to help the food industry comply with Intentional Adulteration (I.A) Rule under the Food Safety Modernization Act.  Two other installments will be issued later this year on this topic.

Sniffing Out Disease: Dogs Trained for Wildlife Disease Surveillance,” is a USDA blog describing the training of dogs to identify odors from materials from Avian Influenza-infected birds at the National Wildlife Research Center in Fort Collins, Colorado.
