UEP farmer-members met with more than 100 Senators, Representatives and staff members during the 2019 Legislative Board and Committee Meetings held May 15-17 in Washington, D.C. “Assuring egg producers have a strong voice on the issues that impact our daily operations and that our community is well-represented by our elected leaders has never been more important,” said Chad Gregory, president and CEO of UEP. “Navigating the myriad of regulatory programs and legislative matters is of great importance to our producers and the industry as a whole.”
An immigration solution to resolve labor shortages, flexible implementation of the new Farm Bill animal ag pest and disease program, food labeling, and checkoff programs were among the issues members discussed with their Congressional representatives.
UEP member visits were featured in Feedstuffs “Egg industry joins food labeling discussion,” and WattAG “UEP members attended annual legislative visits.” UEP President Chad Gregory was widely quoted in “Immigration proposal fails to offer ag worker solution,” in Feedstuffs.
