UEP President Chad Gregory and VP of Food Safety Oscar Garrison attended the Urner Barry Executive Conference that was held April 29 to May 1 in Las Vegas.
Oscar Garrison presented a case study, “How Fipronil Contamination was Averted in the US,” at the Food Safety Summit on May 8 in Chicago. Garrison attended AEB’s 20th Annual Food Technology Advisory Council Meeting on May 9 and presented, “The USDA Proposed Egg Products HACCP Rule.” On May 10, Garrison attended the USDA’s Poultry Sector Meeting.
Dr. Larry Sadler, VP of Animal Welfare, spoke with students attending the animal science careers course at the University of Wisconsin-Madison about his own career path and opportunities in production animal welfare and poultry. Agriculture-focused college students tend to be familiar with beef and pork careers, but many are unaware of the opportunities that exist in poultry, especially in the Midwest. Dr. Sadler believes outreach efforts to students early in their studies is important as they decide on a future career path.
