A recent article in the HuffPost, The real reason brown eggs are more expensive than white eggs, serves as a reminder of the knowledge gap that exists for many consumers regarding egg carton labels and basic egg facts. Many topics that seem “basic knowledge” for those in the industry, like chickens have ear lobes and the difference between a white and brown egg, are unknown to those who do not deal in these topics every day. Knowing that even these basic concepts are foreign to consumers can help put into perspective the gap that exists for more complicated ideas, such as hen housing.
