Statement on Animal Disease Preparedness and Response Programs

Washington, D.C. – July 18, 2018 – America’s farmers, ranchers, and veterinarians applaud the overwhelming passage by the House of a motion to instruct House members on the conference committee considering the 2018 Farm Bill to back permanent, mandatory baseline funding for Animal Disease Preparedness and Response Programs “to provide the certainty that both farmers and consumers need.”

House Agriculture Committee Chairman Conaway and Ranking Member Peterson are to be commended for their strong statements in support of the motion.

The animal agriculture industry stands ready to work with House and Senate conferees on a final Farm Bill that funds these vital programs at a level adequate to protect America’s farmers and ranchers, the nation’s food supply and the U.S. economy.
