Biosecurity Standards Now Available in Spanish

April 18, 2019

Implementing biosecurity on a poultry operation can prevent the introduction and spread of infectious diseases, including Avian Influenza.  Poultry biosecurity resources were released in December 2018 now have a full complement of resources in Spanish.   Spanish resources available include:

  • Educational videos to use in employee training programs
  • Handouts for quick reference of biosecurity principles for caretakers and non-farm personnel
  • Signage to use on the poultry site
  • 14-point self-assessment checklist
  • Detailed information manual
  • Information on disinfection and example biosecurity lines
  • Example agreements to document biosecurity practices
  • Links to additional information (including additional web pages in Spanish) and more

Development of these poultry biosecurity resources was led by Iowa State University, and involved collaboration between the poultry industry, state and federal government officials, and academia. This material was made possible, in part, by a Cooperative Agreement from the United States Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS)’ Veterinary Services. It may not necessarily express APHIS’ views.

UEP’s video “Egg Farm Biosecurity and Disease Prevention,” is also available in Spanish.  Both videos can be viewed on UEP’s YouTube channel.
