The Food and Drug Administration issued a revised question-and-answer guidance document on the agency’s Veterinary Feed Directive (VFD). The VFD, which went into effect in 2015, governs the use of animal drugs in or on animal feed that requires the supervision of a licensed veterinarian.
FDA has added 53 new questions and revised 14 existing questions in the new document. Producers and veterinarians can gain a better understanding of FDA’s approach to the VFD by reviewing the new guidance document, which has been issued in draft form.
Comments on the document are due by May 28.
